Oz Cat

So, you've met Charlie, now let me introduce you to Oscar.

This is Oz Cat doing his lip curling party trick.

Oscar is a pretty amazing cat. Like Charlie, he came here from an 'establishment' for medical research that bred cats for laboratories (Yes, you heard me right). When it closed down Oz and Charlie went to the RSPCA, and the humans that I look after fell in love with them and brought them home.

It took a long time for Oz to get used to things like fresh air, birds, the freedom to run around and the feel of grass under his paws. Even now, he still gets a bit freaked out by things. Like the hoover. The hoover sent him crazy and I must admit that I did occasionally chase him (just a bit) when he ran away from it. However, he's conquered his fear of that now so hoovering time of a morning is a somewhat quieter affair.

Both he and Charlie are considerably older than me. I'm a six year old pup whereas they're both about 15 years old. We can't be sure because we don't know for definite how old they were when they came here. They've been here for 13 years now and they often put me in my place. If I'm honest, Oz is a bit scary sometimes with a powerful right hook. I know when to duck.

He's also a fearless partner in crime when the humans are out and we raid the kitchen bin. He can have that bin over in a heartbeat. He has the edge on me when disappearing though. I'm considerably larger and being almost white, I tend to stand out. I also can't get that guilty look off my face.

So, that's Oz in a nutshell. ...bit of a joker, very cool, slightly stroppy, fearless with attitude. He's my other bestie and we have great times together.

But on a cold, wet day like today, this is how you'll find us all.

On the beach..

Now I love a run on the beach as much as any dog but today was not a beach day.

Why the usually sensible people pack thought it would be a treat today of all days, beats me. I awoke this morning to heavy rain after being kept awake half the night by the wind howling and the rain hammering on the front door. Oscar and Charlie snuggled up close and I honestly don't think they heard a thing. By morning the bags under my eyes were a shock to behold.

I snuggled deeper into my bed at first light and was gratified when everyone had decided that this morning, it was perhaps better to stay in bed a little longer. I was not at all happy later on when it was clear that despite the dreadful weather, they were still expecting me to go outside. I know there's an expectation that labradors love all weathers and are just as happy in the rain as the sunshine. This lab is not. This lab has a distinct dislike of rainy days and would rather view them from inside looking out.

My expression in this photo says it all...

Enough said, back to bed.

Charlie Cat

So I feel that it's time to introduce you to my best friends. Today I'm going to tell you a little bit about Charlie.

This is Charlie Cat.

He's about 15 years old and enjoys snoozing and food. I think sharing the same interests is why we get on so well. I'm slightly envious of him as a few years ago he was a guest on Blue Peter (where they called him Cheeky Charlie) and got stroked by Matt Baker.

Sometimes we play together. If I get a bit clumsy, he'll tell me off. Even though he's a lot smaller than me, he can give me quite a wallop.

His favourite treat is a bit of cheddar but like myself, he wouldn't say no to any food being offered.

He has many favourite places to lay during the day..including the back of the sofa.

He gets to lay on the bed upstairs where I'm not allowed to go. To be honest, he often lays in the middle of my bed and as I don't want to step on him, I have to lay on the floor until he gets moved over. I'm beginning to think he does it on purpose..

But best of all we enjoy cuddling up together.

Next time I'll tell you all about Oscar, my other bestie.

Must go, I can hear the fridge being opened....you never know your luck...

Swimming

Today I have mostly been......

Let me introduce myself..

Let me introduce myself. My name is Monty, short for Montgomery.

I'm a six year old Labrador puppy with a love of peanut butter, carrots, apples ....all food. My frequent bin raids often land me in trouble although I can usually win them round with a soulful look. I'm expert at offering my right paw but totally unable to offer my left. My tail has a life of its own and is the cause of frequent mayhem.

I sit wonkily, am very wary of balloons and take my responsibility of barking when anyone approaches our front door very seriously. I live with two cats Charlie and Oscar who I love to snuggle up with. One of my favourite treats is some peanut butter inside my Kong toy. I love Sundays because all the family are here......and I get leftovers from Sunday lunch. I can't help myself...
