Honestly - isn't he a bit too big for this?
I prefer to stretch out but Oscar will lay anywhere. This is Charlie's basket. Tsssk..

My New House.
So, I'm not going to beat about the bush, the last few weeks have been a bit odd and quite frankly I've been a bit stressed.
Basically I've been barking a lot.
It all started like this...everyone starts packing things away in boxes. I mean everything. The garage was completely empty. I mean- what's that all about? It's been full of 'stuff' ever since I've known it. Suddenly, it has to be cleared and they all spent lots of time looking through boxes that have been in there forever. Honestly - I felt a bit neglected.
Oscar and Charlie went off in their baskets to goodness knows where. Really a bit fed up now. Then one day, a big lorry turns up and two men came in and took all of our furniture and stuff away. Well I can tell you I barked at them all day. I was not a happy dog.
The next day I was squashed into the back of the car with more 'stuff' and had the longest journey I've ever had. We arrived at another house where the men took all of our things out of the lorry again and gave it to the new house. Well rest assured, I barked again - for the whole time.
Then they drove off and left us there.
Hmmm. So, now Charlie and Oscar are back and I must say, I'm not sure when we're going back home, but this house is really quite nice. I've got a great new garden to run around in and I get to bark at all the people who pass. Thing is, not that many people pass. There are lots of horses and quite a few tractors but I'm gradually getting used to them.
Anyway, the three of us are exploring the garden and I'll let you know how we get on.

Eating a few things I shouldn't..
So, today I've eaten a few thing I probably shouldn't have....
I've snaffled a few sunflower seeds from the bird table - I couldn't resist.
Then I had a bit of a chew on an eraser that I found on the edge of the table. Half way through I realised it tasted pretty horrid but the bits I left on the floor gave me away.
I've been told off.
I'm having a bit of a sulk and I've got a bit of a tummy ache but I'm not letting on.

Poorly Oscar
Oscar has recently been very poorly and not at all in the mood for play.
He had to make a couple of trips to the vet which would have made him even grumpier as he does not like his travel basket. He also would have howled all the way there and back. Boy, for a cat, he can make quite some noise.
He's having to take medicine everyday and is on a special low fat diet (!) but I'm pleased to say that he's much, much better now and everyone is making a big fuss of him.
Hope it won't be long before he's ready to play again. In the meantime, I'm giving lots of cuddles.

Please...
I'm finding that I'm having to work a little harder on my pleading face.
It's an art really - pleading without being a nuisance (which sometimes leads to me being sent to my bed). You have to look just irresistible enough that they can't say no.
This was tonight's attempt...

Finding this didn't work, I put my nose a bit closer..
Too much?

It's My Birthday!
So, today is my birthday and there is much excitement in the house!
The day started with an extra big breakfast. What a great start to the day! Then we all went out for a long walk in the snow.
I ran around a lot
Woop!
Here I am doing super-fast running.
I peered through the gate to make sure all was well with the sheep...
It was.
Now I'm back home where I got a piece of toast without even asking.
I can't wait for the rest of the day. I wonder if there'll be more food?
I'm off for a little snooze. I love birthdays.

#snowday
So, today has been GREAT.
In my corner of the UK we have had snow.
No1 - I love snow - it's so fluffy! (That is a quote from one of my favourite films).
No2 - Everyone came out for a long walk.
No3 - I had my first proper snowball fight - they threw snowballs at me and I ran at them full pelt..seems fair
No4 - On my return, I had leftovers from Sunday lunch. Result.
Today has been a good day :)
Here are some photos of me enjoying myself...
This is me trying to avoid a direct hit
Do I have something on my nose?

The New Iron
I do not like the sound of the new iron. I will bark continuously when it is used. That is all.

Dirty Dog
Today has been a good day. All started off well as far as my folks were concerned. Off we went for our walk as usual and I think I was looking pretty smart..
I did lots of smiling and running at full pelt..
I happened across a particularly satisfying area of orchard that turned out also to be a teensy bit muddy..
If I close my eyes they can't see me either
I'm going to get a bath aren't I?

They've taken down the Christmas tree!
I was really getting to like the Christmas tree. I was a little worried at first and it took a while to get used to. I was also a bit put out that they put it near where my bed goes but I even got used to laying by it. Then they go and take it out again.
What's that all about then?

I like Christmas
So - Christmas is great fun. Lots of extra things to eat. Everyone's in a great mood - 2 bin raids yesterday and I got away with both. Result.
I got given a Christmas present which I thoroughly enjoyed opening and then today I got taken our for a long walk through the orchards, found a muddy puddle and raced around a lot.
Now for a welcome little snooze..

Tail Trouble
So, today I have mostly been knocking things over with my tail...
I'm in a spot of trouble and keeping a low profile. My wagging tail, which by the way I have no control over, has knocked something over. Namely a cup of tea. A full cup of tea.
C'mon, how could you be cross with this face?

A Dilemma
So, the day started off okay but by lunchtime as we were all snuggled up together there was a bit of a dilemma....
Whose leg is it?
Clearly Oscar and Charlie were in a bit of a pickle and needed to put their heads together over this tricky situation.
Thank goodness tomorrow is Sunday.

Oz Cat
So, you've met Charlie, now let me introduce you to Oscar.
This is Oz Cat doing his lip curling party trick.
Oscar is a pretty amazing cat. Like Charlie, he came here from an 'establishment' for medical research that bred cats for laboratories (Yes, you heard me right). When it closed down Oz and Charlie went to the RSPCA, and the humans that I look after fell in love with them and brought them home.
It took a long time for Oz to get used to things like fresh air, birds, the freedom to run around and the feel of grass under his paws. Even now, he still gets a bit freaked out by things. Like the hoover. The hoover sent him crazy and I must admit that I did occasionally chase him (just a bit) when he ran away from it. However, he's conquered his fear of that now so hoovering time of a morning is a somewhat quieter affair.
Both he and Charlie are considerably older than me. I'm a six year old pup whereas they're both about 15 years old. We can't be sure because we don't know for definite how old they were when they came here. They've been here for 13 years now and they often put me in my place. If I'm honest, Oz is a bit scary sometimes with a powerful right hook. I know when to duck.
He's also a fearless partner in crime when the humans are out and we raid the kitchen bin. He can have that bin over in a heartbeat. He has the edge on me when disappearing though. I'm considerably larger and being almost white, I tend to stand out. I also can't get that guilty look off my face.
So, that's Oz in a nutshell. ...bit of a joker, very cool, slightly stroppy, fearless with attitude. He's my other bestie and we have great times together.
But on a cold, wet day like today, this is how you'll find us all.

On the beach..
Now I love a run on the beach as much as any dog but today was not a beach day.
Why the usually sensible people pack thought it would be a treat today of all days, beats me. I awoke this morning to heavy rain after being kept awake half the night by the wind howling and the rain hammering on the front door. Oscar and Charlie snuggled up close and I honestly don't think they heard a thing. By morning the bags under my eyes were a shock to behold.
I snuggled deeper into my bed at first light and was gratified when everyone had decided that this morning, it was perhaps better to stay in bed a little longer. I was not at all happy later on when it was clear that despite the dreadful weather, they were still expecting me to go outside. I know there's an expectation that labradors love all weathers and are just as happy in the rain as the sunshine. This lab is not. This lab has a distinct dislike of rainy days and would rather view them from inside looking out.
My expression in this photo says it all...
Enough said, back to bed.

Charlie Cat
So I feel that it's time to introduce you to my best friends. Today I'm going to tell you a little bit about Charlie.
This is Charlie Cat.
He's about 15 years old and enjoys snoozing and food. I think sharing the same interests is why we get on so well. I'm slightly envious of him as a few years ago he was a guest on Blue Peter (where they called him Cheeky Charlie) and got stroked by Matt Baker.
Sometimes we play together. If I get a bit clumsy, he'll tell me off. Even though he's a lot smaller than me, he can give me quite a wallop.
His favourite treat is a bit of cheddar but like myself, he wouldn't say no to any food being offered.
He has many favourite places to lay during the day..including the back of the sofa.
He gets to lay on the bed upstairs where I'm not allowed to go. To be honest, he often lays in the middle of my bed and as I don't want to step on him, I have to lay on the floor until he gets moved over. I'm beginning to think he does it on purpose..
But best of all we enjoy cuddling up together.
Next time I'll tell you all about Oscar, my other bestie.
Must go, I can hear the fridge being opened....you never know your luck...
